To finish first, first you gotta finish! After 49 laps, Jewell had plenty of time to feel the tyres fade and the track go slick. Unless this was his first 50-lapper, there’s no real reason for this move. Too far in my humble opinion…

Looks like good hardnosed racin’ to me! Can’t blame the 9, looks like the ruts made his car jump up the track… gotta say one thing though, the guy in the 9 had a HUGE set of Kahunas to drive that bad boy in there!

The 9 knew he was gonna prolly either stick it or the later. He hammered him.

Jewell plain drives over him, don’t know how anyone would see that any different besides maybe the old man’s bandwagoners…

That’s dirt racing, He went hard into the turn at the bottom and tried to do the slide job as most dirt racers do and just couldn’t make the pass.

I see hard racin #9 had him passed then caught a rut not a driver out there that wouldn’t try the same move in a big race sad it took out the other car but he would have tried same move

If you watch closely on the reply you can see Jewell’s car sliding perfectly to make the slide job until it hit a bump or hole in the track. I’ve personally known mike my entire life and have watched him for years. Even after speaking with him on this race he even admitted the car hopped mid slide. Any real racer knows that these things tend to happen time. Even when the ppl who are taken out do it they say the same when it’s the other way around. Only the bleacher racers and the racer/s taken out will claim dirty or pushing to hard. I say this not as just a Jewell fan but as a racer myself. This case has video to prove the car hopped plain and simple and unfortunate as it may be.

Mike Jewell is one of the cleanest racers out there. I was at the race. He started 22 up to 2 he had the car to win it. Just was hard racing.

Dad used to take me to Florence in diapers over 50 years ago. That move was either going to work or end badly. That is why we all love dirt racing. The lead shoe may be on the other foot the next time.

Looked like hard last lap racing. But what caught my attention was Santa Claus in the stands. If you look after Conley took the lead, on the back strech, you’ll see him. The video shows him from behind.

good hard racing! i would have made the same move. he drove it in deep hit a rut and the other guy happened to be there. you dont go out on the track to finish 2nd and do all you can to get the w! there is no question that this was just two guys going for a win and thats racing

9s fault, as an official at many tracks, I woulda made a call on him, sent to the rear for rough driving.
