Five Days To Go: Chili Bowl National Qualifiers Announced

According to Bryan Hulbert, publicist for the Chili Bowl Nationals, lineups for the qualifying nights have been announced. The field currently sits at 342 entries that have been spread out into four nights of racing to qualify for Saturday night’s finals and the Golden Driller award winner.

Hulbert stated that the “breakdown of nightly events will change several times leading up to the event,” but there is no easy qualifying night due to the high quality, and amount of talent registered for the event.

Last week’s Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout presented several Golden Driller award winners in different classes, with four that have entered this year’s Chili Bowl Nationals, including last year’s winner, Christopher Bell. Bell joined the late Bryan Clauson as the only other driver to win a Golden Driller in both the Shootout Micro and Chili Bowl Midget competition. Bell will be racing for the powerful Keith Kunz team again.

Picking up three Golden Drillers, Jason McDougal will try to earn his fourth as he pilots his Factor 1 Racing No. 73x. The other two on the list include Kyle Jones, who bested the ECOtec Midgets, and Anton Hernandez who stood tall as the winner in 1200cc Mini Sprint action.

The four nights of qualifying for the 32nd Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire, break down with the following:
